MULTOS World Series USA
MAOSCO hosted the first MULTOS World Series in the US on 7th February, held in conjunction with the Smartcard Alliance Annual Payments Summit, in Salt Lake City’s Grand America hotel.
Reports had been coming in the evening before of a huge weather front; Snowstorm “Nemo” was due hit the East coast of America on the Thursday evening/Friday morning. Despite this, a good number of people braved the impending travel restrictions to hear a wide variety of our members speak on their knowledge and own experiences of MULTOS.
After a short introduction from MAOSCO Commercial Manager; Mr. Stuart Attwood, outlining MULTOS the product, the Scheme and the Consortium, Mr. Oliver Manahan from MasterCard explained MCI’s position on EMV Migration in the US, and also gave an insightful look at a MULTOS case study in Canada, making use of MULTOS’ delegation capability to allow multiple AIDs to point to one application.
Mr. Michel Chalifoux from Multos International presented a comprehensive view of how MULTOS can benefit the US market, by detailing the advantages of MULTOS in a multi-sourcing environment.
Mr. Philippe Benitez from Gemalto USA took the stand next, and was able to demonstrate clearly how MULTOS reduces complexity and data management overhead during personalisation, by reducing multiple scripts down to just one, generic MULTOS script.
Mr. Neil McEvoy from Consult Hyperion, whose anecdotes around his personal involvement in the conception of MULTOS and derivation of the mathematical proofs that enabled MULTOS to obtain the highest security accreditation of any commercial product, provided a fascinating conclusion to the morning session.
Mr. Tom Horton from Discover Financial Services opened proceedings in the afternoon, explaining the various DFS Networks, and how MULTOS fits into the DFS strategy.
Messers Benoit Guez and Thomas Thomas Grouard Lillelund from CPI then shared 2 case studies; one from Iceland and the other from Canada, that both highlighted MULTOS’ versatility and speed-to-market capability.
Mr. Chris Torr, MAOSCO Technical Manager, was able to explain in detail how using MULTOS makes key management much simpler, and how the MULTOS loading mechanism is ideally suited to post and instant issuance
Canadian based TechTrex, represented by Mr. Victor Chan, outlined their extensive product range, and how MULTOS plays an integral part of their business case, and was followed once more by Mr. Attwood of MASOCO, who closed the day’s events with a presentation on the advantages of MULTOS in the NFC environment.
The post-event networking session was a relaxed and enjoyable affair; a good time to meet old friends and make new ones.
