Secure electronic transaction solutions provider Keycorp Limited (ASX: KYC) today announced that Inteligensa had launched Keycorp's MULTOS product range to its Latin American customers

Secure electronic transaction solutions provider Keycorp Limited (ASX: KYC) today announced that Inteligensa had launched Keycorp's MULTOS product range to its Latin American customers.

MULTOS is a leading smartcard platform used by nearly one hundred financial institutions worldwide.

Keycorp's range includes products from the SDA MULTOS step/one to high end 64K DDA MULTOS and a range of contact/contactless new products to address emerging markets such as MasterCard Paypass and e-passports.

A report compiled by analyst firm Frost & Sullivan in August 2005 estimated annual smartcard shipments in Latin America at 136.4 million last year with a forecast CAGR of over 59 per cent through to 2010.

Although the report said 86.4 per cent of current shipments were mobile phone SIM cards, it said there would be a steady growth in chipbased banking and payment cards as well as government ID cards and access control cards.

"Keycorp is proud to include Inteligensa as a value-added card manufacturing partner for the Central and South American market as well as the Caribbean,” said Richard Cusson, General Manager of Keycorp's Smartcards Business Unit.

“Keycorp's long experience in EMV migration and secure smartcard projects combined with Inteligensa's unique understanding of the Latin American market and customers as well as its successful track record makes this a very powerful value proposition for the card issuers in the region.”

Venanzio Cipollitti, president of Inteligensa, said: “This association with Keycorp will allow us to offer our clients a smart cards solution that best adapts to their needs”.
